25 August 2026 · 2 min read
Apple has introduced the latest generation of the Mac mini, offering significantly improved performance while retaining the compact design that has made the desktop popular among professionals, creatives and everyday users. The new Mac mini is available with either Apple’s M6 chip or the more powerful M5 Pro. According to Apple, the M6 model delivers up to four times faster AI performance, twice the graphics performance and up to 40 per cent faster CPU performance than the previous M4 version. The standard M6 configuration includes a 12-core CPU, 12-core GPU, 16GB of unified memory and 256GB of storage. Neural Accelerators are now integrated into every GPU core, allowing the computer to handle demanding on-device AI tasks, image processing and creative applications more efficiently. For professionals working with high-resolution photography, video production, visual effects, 3D design and other demanding workloads, the M5 Pro model provides up to an 18-core CPU, a 20-core GPU and as much as 64GB of unified memory. Its additional processing power is designed to make rendering, photo enhancement, video editing and local AI workflows faster and more responsive. Connectivity has also been upgraded across both models. The new Mac mini supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and 2.5-gigabit Ethernet, with an optional 10-gigabit configuration. The M6 version includes three Thunderbolt 4 ports, while the M5 Pro model features three faster Thunderbolt 5 ports. Both versions also provide HDMI, front-facing USB-C ports and a headphone jack. The new Mac mini will run macOS 27, bringing deeper Apple Intelligence integration and improved tools for productivity, automation and creative work. Despite the additional power, Apple has maintained the machine’s small footprint, making it suitable for compact home workspaces, professional studios and always-on computing environments. In the United States, the Mac mini with M6 starts at $899, while the M5 Pro version starts at $1,699. Pre-orders opened on August 25, with availability scheduled to begin on September 22. With its upgraded processors, stronger AI capabilities and improved connectivity, the latest Mac mini offers considerably more power without sacrificing the compact form that defines the product.
